I think naps may be a thing of the past. He is definitely still having quiet/alone time , though, and enjoying a little light reading in bed...as in every book is off the shelf and on his bed. He cracks me up!

A good morning

A good morning to Drew = 2 waffles! He slept great last night. Yay!!

No Crib Update

Naptime hasn't gone anywhere near as well.  I had to go in and raise the blinds because he is a wild man and was pulling on them.  Then, on the video monitor, I saw him stick his tongue in the telephone jack.  Awesome.

Party NOT in my crib!

Drew's first night of freedom went surprisingly well last night! We stripped his room of all furniture and plan to add pieces back as he matures. This wild one would be climbing the dresser if we left him alone with it! He also would dive head first over the side of a toddler bed (he dove out of his crib already!!!), so for now he's camping out on just his mattress. Roughin' it, for sure. Last night he wasn't quite sure what to think about his new freedom. He spent an hour and a half playing in his room before he finally fell asleep on his bed.

Santa!

 Drew loved seeing Santa at MDO!  I think someone might have a career in about 70 years.  He already has the blue eyes, the pink cheeks, and the belly!  ;)

MDO Late Arrival

We had an appointment this morning, so I took Drew to MDO a little late.  When we showed up his classmates yelled, "Drew's here!!!" and ran over to hug him.

Melt my heart!!!  It was the cutest thing ever.

Lizard!!

This weekend I was a shut-in for over 24 hours thanks to this little guy. A lizard in the car = panic attack!!! I dowsed him in hornet spray from afar (that stuff is far reaching)! The next day he succumbed to the spray...sprawled out on my drivers seat!!! Freaked me out! I'm just glad I didn't discover him while driving!!!

 I've joined the iPhone world and now I have so many more pics of life on the go!  I just figured out how to get them to the blog, so here are the most recent pics!

 Pumpkin Patch at our church/Drew's MDO

 Sometimes I look at Drew in his diaper and think about how he's about to outgrow this stage and look like a kid instead of a baby....that thought makes me snap pics to remember his cute lil rolls :)  Love him!!

 Who needs a water table when you have a sink and a stool??  Definitely a favorite pastime!

 Drew has a newfound love of all things ART!  I LOVE to see his excitement over painting, play doh, etc!

We visited Jack & Grant and they had a special surprise -- gingerbread houses!  Drew thought eating the house was much more fun than building the house!

This kid definitely lets me know when he's hungry!  And somewhere along the way he learned German ;)

Lil Artist

Drew has been loving painting at the easel at MDO, so I found this little table top easel for him.  He is a budding lil artist!

Aunt Brenda & Cousin Erin Visit

 Drew (and his parents) had a great time visiting with Aunt Brenda & Cousin Erin.  Matt made a huge pot of gumbo and Drew had everyone wrapped around his finger...reading books, stealing phones, etc. He likes to put on a show, that's for sure!

MDO Pumpkin Patch 2012

Drew's MDO class took a walk to the church's pumpkin patch this morning.  I think he enjoyed seeing the pumpkins, but wasn't in the mood for picture taking!  When I left, they were painting and glittering their pumpkins to bring home.  He really loves his little class!

 

2 days after my last post, we ended up back in the hospital with Drew.  Long story short, he had a very severe hemiplegic migraine that put him in the PICU for 2 days and then on the neurology floor for another 5 days.  Now that we know what is going on, his treatments are much better and his recovery time has been unbelievably faster than last time (March).  A few weeks after the hospital stay, he is back to his antics....Smiling, "helping" me with laundry....

MDO Note

So far, so good at MDO!  I'm so impressed/surprised that Drew sits through circle time.  And I've shown up early twice and saw him sitting in a line waiting for his turn to get a drink at the fountain.  What??  He's growing up ;)

MDO!

 First day of MDO Turtles class!

The teachers said Drew had a GREAT day!  They said he got grumpy a little before lunch, so the whole class just ate early.  Sounds like my kid, that's for sure!  Today he played with trains at the train table, played on the playground, painted a circle using a marble, played with poppers (cut up pool noodle pieces that pop really high when you squeeze them), drove a grocery cart around the class, went to music class, drank from a water fountain, and, of course, ate a snack & his lunch.  I'm sure he did even more, but that's what I know about.  That's quite a bit for 4 hours of "school."

He crashed when we got home and so far he's been asleep for 2 hours!  I planned on volunteering at the church just to be accessible in case of a seizure, but the MDO director (and Matt) convinced me to leave.  Believe me, I made sure every single teacher and admin knew how to give Drew his emergency medication - I made printout procedures, information about seizures (with highlighted emphasis added by me) and even stopwatches for the teachers to time seizures.  I'm "that" mom!  I was a nervous wreck leaving him, but he did great....and this mama got a pedicure!  

I'm SO glad he had a good day!!!!!

I wonder how much longer I'll get to dress him like this?  Heehee.  I'm enjoying the cutesy stuff while I still can.

July/August 2012 part 1

My little Carb Lover!!  We have a hurricane preparedness box (yep!) and we keep non perishable foods in it.  Drew broke into the box, found the Teddy Grahams, opened the new box, and then opened the silver inside package.  All in the span of about 1 minute that I wasn't looking!  Sneaky!!!

He somehow knew, intuitively, that "coins" go in couch cushions!!

Party in my crib!!!  Drew's latest favorite game is to pull any willing participant into his crib to play.  We lowered the mattress to the floor so there are no springs/weight limits to worry about.  He really does think it's fun, despite the expression he has in this pic!
