Carlsbad & White Sands

This weekend Matt and I went to Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands (Dunes and Missile Museum). It was part of our "check out our new state" mission.
***CARLSBAD CAVERNS***
The caverns were awesome!! We took the natural entrance, which was "strenuous" according to the guides. It really wasn't too steep, but it was strenuous on the nostrils. BAT POOP galore!! AND it was pretty dark. At one point they left the trail unlit and we heard, "click click click," coming from the dark corners. This was the exact point that the park rangers decided to post a sign about all the wildlife that lives in the caves (snakes, bugs, bats, etc.). Thanks a lot, rangers. Turns out the clicking was water dropping. Not just regular water, but acidic water. TIP: Do NOT look up in the cave. Acid water dropped DIRECTLY into my open eye. Don't worry, folks, I'm not blind...yet.

***WHITE SANDS***
White Sands is 1,000x's cooler than what these pictures show. It is GORGEOUS!
BTW, the missile museum is not worth the hour round trip drive from Alamogordo!

I love Carlsbad Caverns - we went several times when I was a kid. White Sands too! Did you see the video about all the wildlife in the sands? Pretty exciting stuff when you grow up in West Texas! Glad you guys are taking in all the wonderful things NM has to offer!

Very cool...I'm proud you took the strenuous route and survived the acid rain!

Fun times with the Fleharty's... You two are always up to something, aren't you? Way to explore your state!

Only you would look directly into an acid raindrop - you're a mess, girl!

Can't wait until Saturday... :)
