While there we celebrated the August birthdays - 3 of which were on August 5th! A couple of years ago we threw my dad a big surprise 60th bday party. Well, when mom turned 60 last year, Kristi was in labor and I was preggo so she didn't get the same kind of party that dad did. We celebrated her 60+1 this year in Arkansas.Aug 14, 2010

Sickiepoo

Poor Drew started off the 2nd half of his first year not feeling so well. His fever spiked up to 102 in a matter of hours and the poor little guy was miserable. I took him to a clinic in Hobbs and the doctor looked at him for less than five minutes and wrote "teething" on his sheet, handed it to me, and told me where to pay! Seriously??? My main issue with this is that the doctor didn't even look in his mouth, so how would he know if he was teething?
WELL, I took him to Lubbock (2 hour drive and worth every minute) to the "real" pediatrician. This doctor spent lots of time with us and....looked in Drew's mouth. Guess what he found? Yellow blisters!! Drew has Hand, Foot & Mouth disease!!!!
URGH.

6 Months Old - 7.26.10
Happy Half Birthday to our sweet boy, Drew!
At 4 months, I knew it was OK to give Drew solids, but I wasn't quite ready. Everything I read said that all babies need for the first six months is milk, and my doctor confirmed. So we decided to wait until Drew's 6 month "birthday" to try solids. I geared myself up for this event because I really appreciate and enjoy the fact that up until this point every little cell in his tiny body was once part of me! Super cheesy, but this was a big milestone for mama! We skipped all the cereals and went for homemade sweet potatoes for his first meal. Here is the result...
He likes it!??? Not so much. We do love his "Baby Flea" bib that Grandma made!!
The video is hilarious. I will see if I can post it on youtube and I'll put a link on here if I can.

Drew with his Dottie the Giraffe from Grandma and his Ellie the Elephant from Grandpa. It will be fun explaining one day that Grandma isn't married to Grandpa...she's married to Pops. Hmmm. :)
Here's to another fabulous 6 months with Mr. Drew!! Love that boy!

Day in the Life of Drew
The other day I pulled out some of his 6-9 month clothes and, lo and behold, they were too small already! This outfit is a size 12 months!!! He is still technically only 5 months old. That's a big boy!

Practice...
When it comes to advice from our pediatrician, I am a huge rule follower/stickler. So when he told us absolutely nothing in the crib until he was 6 months old, I took him at his word. Drew hasn't had any blankets, bumper, lovies or toys at all in his crib yet! I'm not quite sure how the kid sleeps because I wouldn't be comfy like that, that's for sure! We lay him down with just his footie jammies on and that's it. Well, he turns 6 months old on Monday, so I decided to let him practice sleeping with a blanket for his afternoon nap today! He's on the floor in the living room with me watching him :) Whatta big boy - sleeping with a blankie! Wooo hooo!!

4th of July and Sleepy Guy
This post is a little belated, but we spent the 4th of July weekend in Ctown. The 3rd was Katie & Wes's wedding and on the 4th we went up to Me-Maw's for a BBQ luncheon.
