PreK is FUN!

PreK Day 1 was a success!  Drew loved it and his therapist said he did a GREAT job.  I was so so so proud of him!  Here are a few pics from day 1 of Drew playing kitchen with some of the boys.  This, in and of itself, is an awesome sight!  It's also a great affirmation that we made the right choice to send him to a typical preK class.  Of course, it's still day 1, but I think this is going to be a great fit for him.  Oddly, almost ALL of the kids in his class are super tall and very very blonde!  

He also enjoyed the sandbox very much and when his shorts came off that night, about a cup of sand fell out of his pockets.  HA!

He did a floor puzzle during the day and his teacher had him pose by the puzzle to take his picture.  Apparently he gave a really good pose - yay!!!!  He's starting to ham it up for the camera!

Drew uses an iPad to help with speech clarity.  He has some commonly used phrases pre-programmed and the iPad pronouces the phrases when he pushes the corresponding button.  On Day 1, he was was able to use his iPad to join in conversations with the other kids!  Apparently the kids were telling their moms' names in a spontaneous conversation and Drew found his button that says "My mom's name is Cindy" and joined right in.  I'm soooo proud of him!!!

SOOOOO proud of this little guy.  He attends a typical preK with his therapist and the report for day one was awesome!!!!  Here's to a smooth year!

Paralysis, Lizards & Puzzles - Oh, My!

Just a semi-typical day around here!  Drew was paralyzed for about 40 minutes today on his right side with a hemiplegic migraine.  I pulled over at the first available spot and happened to park next to a giant water fountain at a huge skyscraper office building.  As Drew was at the height of his migraine, a storm blew in causing hundreds of gallons of water from the fountain to blow on our car!   I kid you not.  It felt like a hurricane.  Water poured in from my sun roof and airbag holes.  It was raining inside the car while my son was paralyzed and screaming.  Totally awesome.  He recovered like the champ that he is and was completely back to baseline within the hour.

We came home to find...LIZARDS in the mailbox.  Holding my mail hostage.  My neighbor has never seen a single lizard at her house, which is how I know it's obviously a personal vendetta between the lizards and I.  Ruuuuuu.

 

So the mail remains unchecked.

Drew's back to himself and we are doing puzzles!  Love this kiddo!  He's the strongest person I know!

You'd never know that right arm was paralyzed 5 hours ago!  

July Trip to Dallas

Hello Fresh!

Well, my free deals with Plated ran out, so I decided to try the introductory offer with HelloFresh!  It's a competitor and they also offered a great deal on the first box.  We received ingredients to make 3 meals and here's our first - meatball pizza!  It was a huge hit with the Drewski!  Unfortunately, the bell pepper they sent was rotten beyond salvage, but thankfully I had one in the fridge to use instead.  They sent a ball of dough and all the ingredients.  YUMMO.  I would definitely make this one again!

This is quite possibly my all-time favorite picture!  Drew's first time to actually look at the camera and pose with a real smile!  Not a fake smile, or a real smile caught by chance!  LOVE THIS KID!!
